Facility Overview

The Port of Providence is located at the convergence of Narragansett Bay and the Providence River just a 2.5 hour transit time from the Brenton Reef Pilot Station in Long Island Sound. Situated on our 105 acres we offer over 1 mile of linear berthing capable of working 6 vessels at any one time.

WTS specializes in bulk, breakbulk and project cargo.

Adequate fendering is required by all vessels in the Port of Providence for loading and unloading. WTS currently maintains available fendering for use by vessels in sizes of 7.5 feet; 9 feet; 12 feet and 14 feet (measured in distance of feet off of the dock wall). The footing at berth #3 remains at 27 feet according to design and construction of C.E. McGuire, likewise the footings at berths 4, 5 and 6 remain at 35 feet. Please report the presence of any obstruction observed by, or caused by any party.

WTS requires compliance with all applicable class, owner/operator, charterer, Pilot and USCG restrictions. For further information please consult the U.S. Coast Pilot and the Code of Federal Regulations where applicable.

Stevedoring

At WTS, we understand the importance of maximizing loading/discharging operations in the most safe, economical and efficient manner possible to expedite vessel turnaround. We count on our experienced labor force to deliver for us and for our clients. Fully licensed and bonded, WTS has a proven track record of increased productivity. WTS's goal is to provide the highest quality services while controlling the costs of handling. WTS and the Providence and Worcester Railroad offer the Northeast's only true intermodal on-dock rail service, connecting our clients to all major national lines that provide rail service to any location in the contiguous U.S. and Canada. Our on-dock loop system and three spur link locations offer direct vessel-to-rail loading, minimizing re-handling, re-handling costs and delivery time. In addition, our three warehouses all feature adjacent rail spurs for convenient loading dock accessibility. WTS has over 300,000 square feet of covered warehouse space available and over twenty acres of open lay-down area for short or long term storage needs. Our covered space also doubles as a storage/distribution center as needed, with over ten truck bay doors for direct-access loading/unloading, as well as along-side rail for quick and easy trans-loading.

Intermodal

WTS and the Providence and Worcester Rail provide the Northeast's only true On-Dock rail capability. Three rail spurs allow direct vessel to rail transfer, indoor rail for convenient warehouse loading and rail line alongside our 20+ acres of open lay down area. The Providence and Worcester connects to all major rail carriers (CSX, NS, CP, NC, UP, BN) offering service from the Providence to anywhere in the contiguous U.S. and Canada.

Storage

Whether you require indoor, outdoor, long or short term storage, WTS has everything to meet your needs:

Covered Storage - three warehouses totaling over 300,000 square feet of storage:

1. Ace Warehouse - 130,000 s.f. adjacent to covered rail line.
2. Marine Terminal Warehouse - 120,000 s.f. with indoor rail and 10 truck bay doors.
3. Shed 1 - 64,000 s.f. located in berth 1 adjacent to our on-dock rail line.

Outdoor Storage - 20+ acres paved open lay down area for either short or long term needs. All storage areas are adjacent to rail lines with the port.

WTS has over 300,000 square feet of covered warehouse space.

Transloading

WTS specializes in the handling and throughput of bulk cargoes including transloading/transferring cargo direct vessel/vessel; vessel/barge; barge/barge. With two Week Marine floating cranes capable of operating at 1000 tph, we have the ability to transfer cargo from vessel to dock and to vessel/vessel or vessel/barge at the same time resulting in an expeditious vessel turnaround time.
