Renewable Energy at the Port of Providence
June ‘09 - a feasibility study is currently being conducted to determine if the Port of Providence is a suitable location for a wind turbine and solar panels to supplement our current power requirements. Study results are expected by the end of summer.
$3.5 million dollar capital improvements
Recent capital improvements at the port have been completed improving the overall facility for our entire customer base creating a more efficient and productive facility. These improvements include:
1. Paving over 20 acres in both the open lay-down storage area and on 3500 linear feet of pier space.
2. Reconditioning the 130,000 square foot Ace Warehouse including a new roof.
3. Replacing 1700 linear feet of rail line along outer pier face.
We will always continue to work to maintain the port as New England’s premier deep water multimodal facility for international and domestic trade.
