Representitives from the City of Providence recently announced the installation of a new chemical detection system at the Port of Providence. This project will be funded by a $593,000 Homeland Security Grant, and will be tied in to the port’s video survelliance and communications network, known as RICOP.
In an article for Providence Business News, Pete Gaynor, of the Providence Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) highlighted the involvement of ProvPort and WTS staff, stating that, “RICOP would not be possible without public-private partnerships such as the one between Providence and ProvPort Inc.”
